Reverse description The reverse presents a large central medallion enclosed within a raised circular border, bearing a multi-line Arabic inscription identifying the issuing authority and the denomination of the Sharifian Empire. The area between the central medallion and the outer toothed border is decorated with interlaced geometric latticework panels at the cardinal points, interspersed with flowing Arabic legends running continuously around the medallion. The overall design reflects the ornate Moroccan Islamic artistic tradition characteristic of the Alaoui dynasty coinage of Sultan Abd al-Aziz.
