Reverse description Central field displays a large circular cartouche containing a multi-line Arabic inscription naming the reigning Sultan Abd al-Aziz and his royal titles. The cartouche is surrounded by an intricate border of interlaced geometric ornamentation in the Moroccan tradition. An outer circular legend in Arabic script runs along the periphery of the coin, separated from the central motif by a decorative band of lattice or guilloche pattern. The design reflects the artistic conventions of late 19th- and early 20th-century Moroccan imperial coinage produced at European mints.
