| Obverse description | The Kuwaiti state seal occupies the center of the field, flanked by the occasion's inscription in Arabic above and in English below. A Quranic verse in Arabic script is positioned along the upper periphery, with a second Quranic verse running along the lower periphery, both rendered within the legend area. The bilingual inscription records the date and occasion of the Fifth Anniversary of Liberation, 26 February 1996, in both Arabic and Latin scripts. The overall design is presented on a mirrored proof field, emphasizing the ceremonial nature of the issue. |

| Additional information |
Kuwait's Liberation Day issues commemorate the February 26, 1991 expulsion of Iraqi forces following Operation Desert Storm, a seven-month occupation during which the Central Bank itself was looted — Iraqi authorities had removed Kuwaiti currency stocks and printing equipment as part of a deliberate effort to absorb Kuwait's monetary infrastructure into Iraq. The 1996 date places this strike five years after liberation, part of a recurring commemorative program rather than an immediate post-war issue.
The X#11 reference situates it firmly in the non-circulating legal tender category, produced for collector distribution rather than commerce.
