| Obverse description | Central field dominated by the heraldic shield of Kuwait University, depicting a rising sun with radiating rays in the upper portion and a traditional dhow sailing upon stylized waves in the lower portion, with the university name in Arabic script along the base of the shield. The Kuwaiti state emblem — a falcon bearing a shield with a dhow — appears at the top of the field. The bilingual legend 'دولة الكويت' and 'State of Kuwait' arcs around the upper periphery in Arabic and Latin script respectively. The founding year '1966' and commemorative year '1996' appear in both Arabic-Indic and Western numerals flanking the shield. A Quranic verse 'وَقُل رَّبِّ زِدْنِي عِلْما' ("And say: My Lord, increase me in knowledge") curves along the lower border. |
