| Reverse description | At center, a faithful representation of a historic Islamic gold dinar coin rendered in high relief with a gilt finish, bearing multi-line Kufic and Naskh Arabic religious inscriptions arranged in concentric circular bands across the entire face of the inset design, evoking the classical Abbasid-era gold dinar tradition. Surrounding this central motif, a curved Latin legend arcs along the upper field reading the commemorative occasion in English, while the denomination appears at lower left in Latin script and at lower right in Arabic script. A decorative arabesque ornament is placed at the base of the coin in the lower field. |

Kuwait City was designated Capital of Islamic Culture for 2016 by the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), a rotating honor shared among member states that has cycled through cities across the Arab world, Africa, and Asia since the late 1990s. These commemorative issues from the Central Bank of Kuwait are almost exclusively sold to collectors through official channels and see no meaningful circulation — gold-plated silver at this weight was never intended for a cash drawer.
