| Obverse description | Left-facing effigy of Sheikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Emir of the State of Bahrain, rendered in high relief by engraver Michael Rizzello. The portrait occupies the central field with fine sculptural detail in the facial features and traditional dress. A circular legend in Arabic script arcs around the upper portion of the coin, reading the Emir's full title and name, while a corresponding English legend appears along the lower periphery. Both inscriptions identify the subject as His Highness Sheikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Emir of the State of Bahrain. |

Issued to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the United Nations, this coin was part of a coordinated global commemorative program in which dozens of member states released silver pieces in 1995 — Bahrain among them. The UN's founding in San Francisco on June 26, 1945, had particular resonance for small Gulf states; Bahrain would not itself become a member until 1971, following independence from British protection.
