| Additional information |
Marziano Lavarello was a Genoese coin dealer who produced a series of privately issued "fantasy" pieces for San Marino, Yugoslavia, and other states during the late 1970s and early 1980s — none authorized by any government. This piece circulated only among collectors who purchased it directly through the trade. The X# prefix in the Standard Catalog of World Coins designates it as an unofficial strike, a category that includes fantasies, patterns, and medallic issues lacking legal tender status. Lavarello's productions occupy an awkward cataloging position: too coin-like to ignore, too unofficial to treat as issues.
