Obverse description Portrait vignette of the Ragusan polymath Ruđer Josip Bošković (1711–1787) — mathematician, astronomer, and physicist — rendered in intaglio as the central motif, accompanied by geometric calculations in the upper right corner. The denomination numeral and issuer inscription appear alongside the subject's name and life dates, with a guilloche underprint lending colour to the background. The Finance Minister's signature is printed below the portrait area.
Obverse lettering REPUBLIKA HRVATSKA 5 RUĐER JOSIP BOŠKOVIĆ 1711 - 1787 MINISTAR FINANCIJA PET HRVATSKIH DINARA
(Translation: REPUBLIC OF CROATIA 5 RUĐER JOSIP BOŠKOVIĆ 1711 - 1787 FINANCE MINISTER (signature) FIVE CROATIAN DINAR)
Reverse description The central vignette presents the twin neo-Gothic spires of Zagreb Cathedral (Katedrala Uznesenja Blažene Djevice Marije) rendered in intaglio against an elaborate multicolour guilloche underprint incorporating geometric and radiating sunburst patterns in teal, yellow, and violet. The Croatian coat of arms appears in the upper left corner, with the denomination numeral "5" and the inscription PET HRVATSKIH DINARA set at lower centre. The designer's signature "Z. Jakuš" is visible in the lower right margin.
