| Obverse description | The German Federal Eagle (Bundesadler) is displayed prominently in the center of the field, rendered in high relief with wings spread and head turned to the right. The eagle's breast bears a shield with a central stripe, and its talons are open. The circular legend BUNDESREPUBLIK DEUTSCHLAND arcs around the upper periphery, while the denomination 5 DEUTSCHE MARK is inscribed along the lower arc.
