Reverse description A detailed frontal view of Cologne Cathedral (Kölner Dom — the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Mary) dominates the field, its two soaring Gothic spires rising nearly to the rim, with intricate tracery, pointed arches, and decorative buttresses faithfully rendered in high relief. The legend DER KÖLNER DOM arcs along the upper left of the rim, followed by 100 JAHRE VOLLENDET continuing to the upper right, commemorating the centenary of the cathedral's completion. The dates 1880 and 1980 appear in the lower left and lower right of the field respectively, flanking the base of the facade, each preceded by a raised dot separator.
