| Reverse description | A central full-length figure of the Statue of Liberty, torch raised, is surrounded by ten portrait busts of notable American presidents arranged in a circular composition filling the field. The commemorative dates 1787 and 1987 flank the central figure at mid-field. The inscription BICENTENARY OF AMERICA'S CONSTITUTION arcs along the upper border, with four five-pointed stars punctuating the lower border. The denomination CROWNS appears at the base along the rim, while the legend FINE SILVER 5 OUNCES is inscribed in the lower exergue beneath the central design. |

The U.S. Constitution was ratified in 1788, but the bicentenary commemorations were staged across 1987–88, timed to the September 1787 signing in Philadelphia. The Isle of Man had by this point established itself as an aggressive producer of large-format commemorative silver for the collector market, leveraging its Crown dependency status to issue coins that circulated legally but were never intended to. The Pobjoy Mint struck the bulk of Manx commemoratives during this period under contract.
At 155 grams of .999 silver, this is a five-ounce piece — the weight doing the commercial work the denomination cannot.
