Obverse description Right-facing laureate and uniformed effigy of Emperor Franz Joseph I, rendered in high relief with fine portraiture detail characteristic of the late Habsburg commemorative series. The truncation of the bust is cleanly defined, and the emperor is depicted in military dress with imperial insignia. A continuous Latin legend encircles the effigy reading the full imperial titulature of Franz Joseph I as Emperor of Austria and Apostolic King of Hungary. The field is smooth and the legend is set in a precise Roman typeface consistent with official Austrian coinage of the period.
