At the top, the overprinted legend reads 'BANCO NACIONAL DE COSTA RICA / CAJA DE CONVERSION' over the original 'BANCO INTERNACIONAL DE COSTA RICA' imprint, with the denomination 'CINCO COLONES' in bold letterpress at centre.
