Reverse description The reverse presents a central oval intaglio portrait of a classical allegorical female figure in profile, wearing a laurel wreath and a winged helmet, executed in fine line engraving. Elaborate guilloche scrollwork and lathe-work geometric patterns fill the surrounding field, with numeral 5 counters positioned symmetrically at left and right within intricate rosette designs. The bank name BANCO COMERCIAL DE COSTA RICA is inscribed in a panel at the bottom center, with the printer's imprint AMERICAN BANK NOTE COMPANY NEW YORK at the foot.
