| Obverse description | Within the brass centre, a finely detailed relief of a striped hyena (Hyaena hyaena) is depicted in left profile, walking across a rocky ground with its characteristic sloping back and erect mane rendered in high relief. A bare, branching tree occupies the upper right field behind the animal, and the engraver's monogram МВ appears in the lower right field. The nickel silver ring carries the Cyrillic legend ПОЛОСАТАЯ ГИЕНА at the top arc and the Latin binomial name Hyaena hyaena at the bottom arc, flanked by two raised dots. |
