Obverse description Against a mirror-polished proof field, a finely detailed relief depiction of a Reed Parrotbill (Paradoxornis polivanovi) is shown perched on reed stems, facing right, with its characteristic stout parrot-like bill clearly rendered. The surrounding field features additional stylized reed stalks extending across the design. The Cyrillic legend ТРОСТНИКОВАЯ СУТОРА arcs along the upper periphery, while the Latin binomial Paradoxornis polivanovi curves along the lower periphery, both legends flanked by raised bullet points. The engraver's initials МВ appear in the lower right field.

Additional information

The reed parrotbill (Paradoxornis webbianus) appeared in Russia's ongoing wildlife conservation series, which the Moscow Mint has used since the 1990s to document species under federal protection. This particular bird occupies a narrow range in the Russian Far East, where wetland degradation has pushed it onto the national Red List.

The .925 silver used for this series is struck to proof standard at ММД, with mintages typically capped at 3,000 pieces — low even by Russian commemorative norms.
