| Obverse description | The brass centre features a finely detailed naturalistic scene depicting two narwhals (Monodon monoceros) in an Arctic marine environment: a large adult narwhal shown in profile swimming rightward with its characteristic elongated tusk prominent, and a smaller individual below, accompanied by a school of small fish in the lower field. In the background, seabirds in flight and a rocky coastline are visible to the right. The engraver's monogram МВ appears in a small oval cartouche at the right of the centre. The nickel-brass outer ring carries the Cyrillic legend НАРВАЛ at the top and the Latin scientific name Monodon monoceros along the lower arc, separated by raised bullet points. |
