Obverse description Left-facing diademed and draped bust of Queen Victoria, her hair dressed with a floral ornament and bound with a beaded diadem, set within a broad decorative border of Greek-key meander pattern surrounded by a beaded outer rim. The legend VICTORIA appears above and QUEEN below, separated from the central portrait by the ornamental frame. The effigy is rendered in high relief in a refined classical style attributable to Leonard Charles Wyon. The overall composition is characteristic of Victorian-era proof and pattern coinage produced at the Royal Mint.
