| Reverse description | Central motif of a tall, slender palm tree with fronds displayed, rendered in fine detail and set within a beaded inner circle bordered by a twisted rope or cable pattern. The denomination inscription CEYLON . FIVE . CENTS arcs around the upper periphery, with the date 1891 positioned in the lower exergual area. To the left and right of the palm tree, the value five cents is inscribed in Sinhalese and Tamil scripts respectively. The design is crisp and deeply struck, consistent with pattern or proof production standards. |
