Reverse description The large numeral '5' dominates the upper field above the central round hole, flanked by an open wreath of rice or cereal ears tied at the base with a ribbon bow, the sprigs rising symmetrically to frame the denomination. The abbreviated denomination CENT. is inscribed below the hole within the wreath, and the date 1923 appears in the exergue beneath the tied wreath. The legend INDOCHINE FRANCAISE is distributed around the periphery within a beaded border, reading upward on the left and downward on the right.
