| Obverse description | Bare bust of President James Mancham facing right, engraved in high relief with fine detail to the hair and beard, occupying the central field of the scalloped flan. The legend REPUBLIC OF SEYCHELLES curves along the upper periphery in raised Latin capitals, following the contour of the scalloped edge. The design was executed by engraver Michael Rizzello and conveys a formal, presidential character suited to the commemorative issue marking Seychelles independence. |
