Obverse description Uncrowned effigy of King George VI facing left, rendered in high relief with finely detailed hair. The legend GEORGIVS VI D:G:REX ET IND:IMP: arcs around the periphery, reading from lower left to lower right. The engraver's initials HP appear discreetly in the field to the right of the portrait. The design is a faithful tribute to the original wartime portrait by Humphrey Paget as adapted for Canadian coinage, presented here on a large-format specimen flan with a wide, beaded border.
