| Reverse description | Three baobab seed pods (Adansonia digitata) are rendered in high relief at the centre of the field: one whole pod and two cross-sectional halves revealing the distinctive seed chambers within. Two leafless baobab trees in low relief occupy the background left and right, evoking the characteristic sandstone landscape of the Mapungubwe region. The denomination '5c' is inscribed in large stylised numerals in the upper right field. The engraver's initials 'MD' appear to the lower left near the rim. The proof finish presents deeply contrasting mirrored fields and frosted sculptural detail throughout. |
