Produced as part of the pre-accession testing program ahead of potential Eurozone integration, this copper essai was struck by Pobjoy Mint to evaluate specifications for a hypothetical Guernsey euro coinage. Guernsey, as a Crown Dependency, was never actually obligated to adopt the euro and never did — making the entire series a bureaucratic exercise that produced collectible dead-ends rather than circulating currency.
