| Obverse description | The obverse features the youthful effigy of Queen Elizabeth II in right-facing profile, as rendered by Arnold Machin, depicting the Queen at approximately age 37. The Queen wears a delicate tiara, rendered with selective gold plating that accentuates its ornate detail, and her shoulder drapery is similarly highlighted in gold. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs along the left field, while D·G·REGINA follows the right rim, all in raised Latin characters.
