| Obverse description | Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, depicted at approximately 77 years of age, bare-headed with hair drawn up, wearing a necklace and drop earrings, as designed by Susanna Blunt. The portrait presents a mature, dignified likeness of the Queen in a restrained neoclassical style. The legend arcs around the upper and lower periphery of the field. |

| Reverse description | A bold Victory 'V' motif dominates the centre of the dodecagonal field, closely replicating the design used on the 1944 Canadian wartime nickel, with a flaming torch rising from the apex of the 'V'. Two stylised maple leaves flank the lower arms of the 'V' in the field. The dual commemorative dates 1944 and 2004 appear on either side of the 'V', with the legend CANADA arcing above and CENTS below. The engraver's initials T.S. appear at the base of the torch. The entire design is set within a beaded inner border following the twelve-sided contour of the coin. |
