| Obverse description | The fourth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, sculpted by Susanna Blunt, is depicted in right-facing portrait showing the Queen bare-headed, wearing a necklace and drop earrings. The legend ELIZABETH II D·G·REGINA arcs along the upper periphery. The mature likeness, introduced in 2003, presents the Queen at approximately 77 years of age with refined facial detail and restrained sculptural modelling. No mint mark or Royal Canadian Mint logo appears on this issue. |

| Reverse description | A naturalistically rendered beaver is depicted in profile, seated atop a rocky outcrop, occupying the central field of the reverse. The denomination 5 CENTS arcs along the upper periphery, while the country name CANADA appears beneath the beaver in the lower field, flanked on either side by a single stylised maple leaf. The date 2006 and the designer's initials K·G appear in the lower exergual area. The design, originally created by George Edward Kruger Gray, has been the standard reverse type for the Canadian five-cent coin since 1937. |
