Reverse description Central device depicts a stylised traditional Nguzunguzu figurehead, a canoe prow ornament of the Solomon Islands, rendered in an abstract indigenous artistic style incorporating ovoid and geometric forms. The numeral 5 appears to the left of the central motif, with the denomination legend CENTS arcing along the lower portion of the field. The design, by David Thomas, draws on Melanesian artistic heritage to create a distinctive national emblem.
