Reverse description The large numeral '5' dominates the central field, rendered in an ornate style with horizontal line shading and a bold serif design. The word 'CEYLON' is inscribed along the upper border, while 'CENTS' appears below the numeral and the date is placed at the bottom of the field. Sinhalese script (සත යභ) runs vertically along the left side of the square flan, and Tamil script (௫ சதம்) runs vertically along the right side, providing the denomination in both local languages. The overall composition is symmetrical and neatly arranged within the square format.
