Reverse description A highly detailed, naturalistic rendering of the Maltese freshwater crab (Potamon fluviatile, locally known as Qabru) dominates the field, depicted in a raised, three-quarter frontal pose with claws extended and legs splayed. The denomination numeral and abbreviation '5c' are incuse in the lower right field. The design fills the flan with fine sculptural detail emphasising the carapace texture and articulated limbs.
