Obverse description The obverse displays the heraldic arms of the British North Borneo Company centrally positioned in the field, featuring a shield quartered with a lion passant in the upper portion and a dhow sailing vessel in the lower portion, surmounted by a hand holding a furled flag atop a crest. Two standing male figures in traditional indigenous Dyak attire serve as supporters on either side of the shield, each adorned with neck rings and holding weapons — a shield and spear respectively. Below the central device, a scrolled ribbon banner bears the Latin motto PERGO ET PERAGO. The mintmark H, denoting the Heaton Mint of Birmingham, appears at the base of the design. The entire composition is enclosed within a toothed border.
