Obverse description Central device depicting a heraldic shield with horizontal lines in the chief and vertical lines in the body, surmounted by a crossbar. The motto IN GOD WE TRUST appears in small letters along the upper arc of the legend, rendered in a notably smaller typeface than on the regular issue. The date 1866 is inscribed at the base of the shield, divided by a central dot reading 18.66. A series of alternating arrows and ball ornaments frame the shield within the inner circle.
