Andorra issued its first native coinage only in 1982, having relied on French and Spanish currency for centuries under its co-principality arrangement. The 2004 brass series to which this piece belongs was produced by the Fábrica Nacional de Moneda y Timbre in Madrid — a quietly ironic choice given Spain's role as one of Andorra's two feudal co-princes.
