Poboleda is a small wine-growing village in the Priorat comarca of Tarragona, and like hundreds of other Catalan municipalities it issued its own emergency small change during the Spanish Civil War — a direct consequence of the Republic's chronic shortage of fractional coinage after 1936. These local issues, collectively known as moneda de necessitat, were produced with whatever printing resources the town had available, typically a local press or even a rubber stamp.

Turró catalogues this as a single known type for Poboleda. The municipality issued very few denominations, and surviving examples in any condition are genuinely uncommon simply because the issuing population was tiny.
