Noguerones de Alcaudete is a small rural settlement in the municipality of Alcaudete, Jaén province. During the Spanish Civil War, the Republican zone suffered an acute shortage of small-denomination coinage — silver and copper had been hoarded or melted — forcing hundreds of local councils, cooperatives, and committees to issue their own emergency paper. This note is one of those purely local solutions: a municipal council producing fractional currency for a population that may have numbered only a few hundred.
The rubber stamp authentication was the standard guarantor for these improvisations. Without it, the slip of card stock carried no official weight whatsoever.
