Additional information

Costa Rica's small bronze coinage of the late 1920s was struck at the Philadelphia Mint under contract, as the country lacked domestic minting capacity. The 1929 date falls during a period of relative monetary stability before the Great Depression disrupted Central American economies and led to significant currency reforms across the region in the early 1930s.
