Bône (now Annaba, Algeria) was among several Algerian port cities whose chambers of commerce issued emergency aluminium tokens during 1915, filling a void created when wartime metal demands gutted the supply of small French bronze coinage. The absence of a date on this piece was a deliberate choice — it extended the token's usable life without requiring reissue, a practical workaround common to several North African emergency series of the period.
