A large royal crown surmounts the cipher. The denomination 5 C. flanks the monogram on either side, and the mint mark A (Paris) appears at lower right. The circular legend COLONIES FRANÇAISES runs along the upper rim, with the date 1824 displayed in the exergue area at the base.
