Obverse description Left-facing draped bust of Marianne, the allegorical figure of the French Republic, engraved in the Art Nouveau style by Daniel Dupuis. Her hair is adorned with a sprig of olive or laurel, rendered with fine naturalistic detail characteristic of Dupuis's work. The legend REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE arcs around the periphery, divided on either side of the effigy.

Reverse description Seated allegorical figure of the Republic or Liberty occupies the central field, depicted in a flowing classical robe with attributes at her sides, in the elaborate Art Nouveau manner typical of Dupuis. The legend LIBERTÉ ÉGALITÉ FRATERNITÉ arcs across the upper portion of the field, encircling the composition.
