Obverse description Bare, uncrowned effigy of Grand Duke Adolphe of Luxembourg in right-facing profile, rendered in high relief with naturalistic detail. The truncation of the bust is signed A. MICHAUX, identifying the engraver Alphonse Michaux. A circular Latin legend reads ADOLPHE GRAND DUC DE LUXEMBOURG around the upper periphery, with the date 1901 flanked by two raised dots positioned along the lower rim. The portrait is surrounded by a fine toothed border.

Reverse description The reverse features a symmetrical open wreath of detailed oak branches, with lobed leaves and acorn clusters, encircling a broad, entirely plain central field devoid of any inscription or denomination — rendering the design wholly anepigraphic. The two branches of the wreath are tied at the base with a decorative ribbon bow. The composition is framed by a fine toothed border matching that of the obverse, consistent with the essai (pattern) nature of the piece.
