Obverse description The central field features the interlaced monogram 'RF' (République Française) in large stylized letters, surmounted by a Phrygian cap with a rosette, the traditional symbol of French liberty. A central round hole pierces the coin, incorporated naturally into the design. The encircling legend reads 'AFRIQUE EQUATORIALE FRANÇAISE' along the periphery, separated from the dentillated border. The design is engraved in a bold, Art Deco-influenced style characteristic of Lindauer's work.

Reverse description The reverse displays the denomination '5' at the left and 'CMES' (centimes) within a stylized 'C' cartouche at the right, flanking the central round hole. The upper field bears the French Republican motto 'LIBERTE·EGALITE FRATERNITE' in two arching lines, while the date '1943' appears below the hole and the Free French motto 'HONNEUR·PATRIE' is inscribed along the lower periphery. The entire design is bounded by a fine dentillated border.
