Obverse description The municipal coat of arms of Auch, displayed on a quartered shield, occupies the central field, featuring a stag and a rampant lion in the respective quarters. The shield is surrounded by decorative foliate scrollwork and a wreath. The circular legend reads AUGUSTA AUSCORUM, the ancient Gallo-Roman name for the city, arcing along the left periphery in raised Latin lettering.
