Obverse description Monoface trial strike on an irregularly shaped square copper flan with rounded corners. The obverse features a right-facing portrait bust of Josefa Ortiz de Domínguez, the celebrated heroine of Mexican independence, with elaborate hair treatment visible in the field. The denomination numeral appears in association with the effigy. As a trail strike, the design impression is shallow and partially defined, with the portrait struck into an unfinished planchet, leaving the design unevenly distributed across the surface.
