The Constitutionalist Army issued provisional coinage across northern Mexico during the armed struggle against Victoriano Huerta's regime, with Chihuahua serving as the financial and military base of Venustiano Carranza's forces. These copper pieces circulated in a war economy where federal currency was actively rejected and local scrip, paper promises, and emergency coins all competed for acceptance within weeks of each other.
KM#613 is one of several distinct Constitutionalist types — distinguishing the precise issuing authority matters, as pieces from different factions and states of the same revolution vary considerably in survival rates.
