We can see a caravel and an anchor, the Portuguese coat of arms and, framing it, a rope with buoys.
Reverse description
On the left we see a woman holding a sheaf of wheat, in her other hand a hammer resting on a cogwheel and, behind the woman, the Cross of the Order of Christ, framed with a knotted rope. On the right is Mercury, holding the boat, and behind him, the armillary sphere, thus representing Mercury as the protector of travelers and merchants.
