Obverse description The obverse features a Phrygian cap resting on a radiating sunburst, a motif derived from the traditional Mexican republican imagery symbolizing liberty. The word LIBERTAD appears inscribed on the cap. The circular legend REPUBLICA MEXICANA arcs across the upper field, while the date 1915 is positioned in the lower exergue. The design is rendered in low relief with crude die workmanship characteristic of emergency Revolutionary-era coinage.
