| Obverse description | The obverse features the national coat of arms of Honduras centered in the field, depicting an oval shield surmounted by a Mayan pyramid, flanked by two rampant lions and supported by a quiver of arrows and crossed rifles below, all enclosed within an oval cartouche bearing the legend REPUBLICA DE HONDURAS·LIBRE·SOBERANA·INDEPENDIENTE·15 SEPTBRE 1821. The outer legend REPUBLICA DE HONDURAS curves along the upper periphery, while the date 1989 appears in large numerals at the bottom. The entire design is bordered by a continuous ring of beads running along the inner rim. |
