Obverse description Central device features a radiant sun face with stylized alternating straight and wavy rays, enclosed within a raised inner circle. The sun motif, a traditional Incan solar symbol, is rendered in low relief with a schematic facial design at its centre. The surrounding legend reads REPUBLICA PERUANA along the upper arc and CINCO CENTAVOS along the lower arc, separated by small five-pointed stars at each side. The date appears to the right within the legend. The entire design is framed by a beaded border running along the coin's periphery.
