| Obverse description | The South African Coat of Arms occupies the central field, depicting a secretary bird with outstretched wings above a shield charged with two human figures, flanked by wheat stalks, with a tusk and knobkierie crossed below. The motto ribbon at the base of the arms bears the legend !KE E: /XARRA //KE in the Khoisan language. The date 2017 appears in the upper field above the arms, while the legend SOUTH AFRICA is inscribed along the lower rim. The engraver's initials ALS appear to the lower left of the shield. |
