Additional information

Jamul Indian Village is a Kumeyaay band located in San Diego County, California — not an Eskimo or Arctic community by any stretch. The "Eskimo Tribes" designation on this piece almost certainly refers to a themed series issued under the broader Native American tribal gaming token program, where issuing authority names and depicted subjects frequently bear no ethnic or geographic relationship to one another. Tribal nations gained the legal footing to issue such tokens through IGRA, the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act of 1988.
