Obverse description The obverse features a densely arranged field of Chinese and Manchu characters within a beaded inner circle, surrounded by a milled border. The upper arc of the legend reads 福建官局 (Fukien Official Mint) in Chinese, while the central field bears the reign title 光緒元寶 (Guangxu Yuanbao) in large bold characters. Manchu script characters 'Boo-fu' appear flanking the central inscription, identifying the Fukien Mint. The lower arc carries the denomination inscription 毎枚當錢五文 (Each piece equals five cash). All legends are rendered in an upright, formal script style typical of late Qing dynasty machine-struck coinage.
